Ballet dancer and choreographer, People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky in honor of his 80th birthday gave a gala concert at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theater. D. A. Hvorostovsky, where he presented fragments of three new ballets: “Amok”, “Two Women” and “Don Quixote”.

Hvorostovsky hosted a gala concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the legendary ballet dancer and choreographer, People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Leonidovich Lavrovsky. The evening took place during the large-scale anniversary celebrations that started in October 2021 on the stage of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater, “TASS reports.

People's Artist of Russia, prima of the Bolshoi Theater Maria Alexandrova, prima of the Bolshoi Theater Marianna Ryzhkina, Honored Artist of Russia, Premier of the Bolshoi Theater Vladislav Lantratov, as well as Victoria Litvinova, Artur Mkrtchyan and Evgeny Golovin took part in the concert. The choreographer selected all the dancers himself. Representatives of the Krasnoyarsk troupe also appeared on the stage, including, for example, the Honored Artist of Russia, artistic director of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theater Sergei Bobrov.

Lavrovsky noted that he was pleasantly surprised by the high level of training of young artists of the Krasnoyarsk theater and the level of their discipline, as well as the desire to comprehend the art of ballet.

“This is the essence of transferring the best traditions to the young! Of course, this is thanks to the enormous work of the artistic director of the ballet of the theater Sergei Bobrov and the director of the theater Svetlana Guziy, “the choreographer noted.

The audience was presented with a choreographic suite from the ballet Two Women, pas de deux from the ballet Giselle “, Pas de deux and insert variation from the ballet” Don Quixote “, the one-act ballet” Nijinsky “, as well as a fragment of the opera-ballet” Amok “.

The music for the ballet was written by the composer Alexander Simonenko. According to him, “Amok” is a story of great passions.

Video art for “Amok” was created by director Sergei Kavtaradze. While working on the project, Kavtaradze returned to the topic that he had previously touched upon in his film “Milk Madness”. According to him, the scenery in classical ballet is the scene, and the video art is the theme. In “Amok” this theme is a look into the abyss, he noted.

The full-scale premiere of “Amok” will take place on the stage of the Moscow Helikon-Opera theater on October 29-30, 2022.
