The ECHR banned teachers from insulting schoolchildren after an incident with a student from Croatia
The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) stood up for a student from Croatia whom the teacher scolded, and forbade teachers to offend students. This is stated in a summary prepared by the Supreme Court of Russia, writes RIA Novosti.
It is clarified that the teacher insulted the student when he was late for class, calling him a fool and a redneck. When the student complained to the school principal, the teacher repeated his words.
The student's father informed various authorities about the situation, but the school limited itself to talking, the Ministry of Education considered this an internal matter of the educational institution, and the prosecutor's office dismissed the complaint. Then he applied to the ECHR.
“Based on the facts of the case, the court came to the conclusion: although the first insults of the teacher against the applicant were aimed at punishing him and his classmates, the two subsequent cases could not be considered as – otherwise, except for gratuitous verbal abuse against the applicant, “the court noted.
Earlier in St. Petersburg, a teacher in the hallway swore at a schoolboy who wanted to go to the toilet. The teacher stated that primary classes are located on this floor. She said that she would not let him in, and also spoke obscenely about the student's character and suggested “peeing in my pants.”
