Central Bank: Russians' demand for foreign currency in cash grew by 48 percent in September amounted to 4.7 billion dollars – 48 percent more than in August. This is stated in the materials of the Central Bank of Russia.
Compared to the indicators of September 2019 and 2020, the growth was 10 and 29 percent, respectively. First of all, the Russians rushed to buy dollars – the population's demand for the American currency in September 2021 compared to August increased by 58 percent, to $ 3.2 billion, for the European currency – by 30 percent, to $ 1.4 billion. The share of dollars in the structure of aggregate demand increased to 69 percent (plus 5 percent compared to August), the share of the European currency fell to 30 percent (minus 4 percent).
