prototype of the heavy drone “Sirius”. The general director of the enterprise Sergei Bogatikov said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.

The drone with two engines was developed as a heavier version of the Orion drone. The new device is distinguished by an increased combat load and range. According to Bogatikov, a prototype of the strike drone is already being assembled at the company's pilot plant in Moscow.

Earlier, Sergei Bogatikov spoke about the open architecture of the Orion drone. According to him, this will make it possible to customize the set of weapons at the request of the customer.

In September, Izvestia announced a new light multipurpose guided missile “Product 305”, which can enter the arsenal of the Orion drone. The ammunition received a warhead weighing 25 kilograms.

In August 2020, Nikolay Dolzhenkov, the general designer of the Kronshtadt company, announced the start of development of a new heavy unmanned aerial vehicle, Sirius. He noted that the mass of the device will reach two tons. The new drone will also receive a satellite communications system that will allow the device to be controlled from an unlimited distance.

The National Interest has suggested that the Russian heavy drone will become an analogue of the American MQ-1 Predator.
