In May 2020, American scientists found out what advantage men with facial hair have in a fight. Biologists Ethan Beseris, Steven Naleway and David Carrier conducted an experiment in which it was found that men with beards take less damage from a blow to the head than shaved ones. It turned out that hair absorbs 37 percent more energy, acting as shock absorbers. Thus, the beard softens the blow to its owner.
