CSTO special forces exercises kicked off in Tajikistan

Joint CSTO exercises “Cobalt-2021” began at the Fakhrabad training ground in Tajikistan

security (CRRF) “Cobalt-2021” began at the Fakhrabad training ground in Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of the Central Military District (CVD).

The military from Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and, accordingly, Tajikistan are taking part in the regular CSTO maneuvers. The exercises started on November 17 and will last until November 19.

During the events, the military will work out the planning and conduct of an operation to destroy the militants, acting as part of the special forces of the CSTO CRRF. During the active phase of the exercise, servicemen will conduct an operation to blockade and storm a building conditionally seized by militants using helicopters and technical reconnaissance equipment.

CSTO exercises in Tajikistan are held quite often due to the unstable situation in neighboring Afghanistan. From October 18 to 23, special exercises Echelon-2021, Search-2021 and Interaction-2021 were held near the border with Afghanistan. Then the grouping of the Collective Forces of the CSTO worked out an operation to localize the border conflict associated with attempts by international terrorists to penetrate the territory of Tajikistan.

August 15 Taliban ( terrorist organization banned in Russia ) took control of the entire territory of Afghanistan amid the withdrawal of American troops from the country. Dushanbe demanded the formation of an inclusive government there, in which all national minorities would be represented, and threatened not to recognize the cabinet of ministers “formed through oppression.”
