US Treasury: Russia owns US $ 3.9 billion in US bonds

According to the agency, the Russian portfolio contains long-term bonds worth $ 204 million, as well as short-term bonds worth $ 3.714 billion. It is noted that Russia began to rid itself of the American public debt in 2018, when it had $ 96 billion in securities.
The department also said that as of September of this year, Japan was the largest holders of the US public debt ($ 1.299 trillion ) and China ($ 1.047 trillion).
Earlier, US President Joe Biden signed a bill to raise the country's public debt ceiling by $ 480 billion. According to the decree, the limit will be increased to $ 28.9 trillion. It is expected that this amount should be sufficient for the US government to fully continue to fulfill its obligations until the beginning of December.
