Armenian Ambassador to Russia Toganyan: prompt consultations are underway in connection with the battles

Armenian Ambassador to Russia Vardan Toganyan told TASS that Moscow and Yerevan is holding consultations in connection with the start of battles on the border with Azerbaijan.

“Consultations are underway along the operational line – through the military, other departments, through diplomatic channels,” the diplomat said.

At the same time, Armenia has not yet submitted to Russia an official request for assistance in accordance with the 1997 Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in connection with the aggravation on the border with Azerbaijan.

“If we are talking about an official written statement, I cannot confirm yet, “Toganyan said.

On November 16, battles began on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The parties blamed each other for the attack. Yerevan appealed to Moscow with an appeal to protect the territorial integrity of Armenia in accordance with the 1997 bilateral agreement.
