EU Council approves 14 new defense projects

The EU Council of Defense Ministers approved 14 pan-European defense projects

The EU Council of Defense Ministers approved 14 new pan-European defense projects. This is reported by TASS with reference to the relevant statement of the Council.

“New projects are a new step towards joint investment, development and creation in defense projects, especially air and space technology,” the association said. In particular, the approved projects include the creation of unmanned and semi-autonomous military equipment, as well as a passive protection system for spacecraft.

The EU Council also reported that the association plans to modernize military transport transport of oversized cargo, create new types of small warships, small arms, defense systems in cyberspace and energy sources for drones.

Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that the EU is ready to begin negotiations with Washington on the US's admission to defense and military-industrial projects associations. Thus, the American side will have access to participation in projects of the European policy of the Permanent Structured Defense Partnership (PESCO), which includes plans to create new weapons, defense equipment, and develop common capabilities in cyberspace.
