The main course of the Moscow-Kazan highway will be launched in 2023, said Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. His words are quoted by Interfax.
“About 15 thousand people are employed at the construction site. We plan to start car traffic along the main course of the highway in 2023, ”he said. Additional entrances to the highway and exits from it are planned to be completed in 2024. Also, Khusnullin added, in parallel, projects are being developed to extend the road from Kazan to Yekaterinburg. “I think that at the beginning of next year we will go to the construction site of this section,” he said.
Earlier, Khusnullin announced the resumption of active work on the project of the new meridian highway. The road will connect Europe and China. According to him, the authorities are discussing the implementation of the Meridian program, as well as the construction of roads in the Southern Federal District and the Eastern range of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and Transsib.
In April, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the highway from Moscow to Kazan will be launched in 2024. This year, 40 billion rubles will be allocated for the construction, the total amount of funding exceeds 650 billion.
