The Animal Health Organization has warned of increased avian influenza
Avian influenza outbreaks increased worldwide in 2021. Cases of mass death of birds occurred in Europe and Asia, and in China, people died from a mutated virus. The Guardian reports data from the World Organization for Animal Health.
Hundreds of thousands of birds have become infected with the virus on poultry farms in Norway, South Korea and Japan. On Monday, at one of the Korean factories, an outbreak affected 770,000 animals, all of them had to be destroyed.
The high risk of the spread of bird flu threatens other countries as well. France, Belgium and the Netherlands have already warned farmers and imposed restrictive measures on their farms.
In China, it is reported that 21 people died from the H5N6 strain of avian influenza in 2021. Like many other types of this flu, this virus can infect humans. The H5N8 virus, which caused outbreaks in Japan, is also transmitted to humans.
Earlier, an emergency regime was introduced in the Tyumen region due to cases of bird flu at a local poultry farm. On October 28, the capital of the region was covered with smog with a burning smell from burning animal carcasses.
