The State Duma responded to the US accusations of dangerous tests of Russian weapons in space

State Duma Deputy Shvytkin: US accusations of testing Russian weapons in space are fantasies … Thus, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee Yuri Shvytkin answered the words of State Department spokesman Ned Price, REN TV reports.

“I will say that there is no limit to imagination on the part of the United States of America. Russia has always opposed and opposes the militarization of outer space and calls on other countries to do so, “Shvytkin said.

He also pointed to the policy of double standards in the United States. According to the State Duma deputy, the Americans are actively testing weapons in space, while blaming Russia for this.

Shvytkin stressed that Price's statements are untrue.

Earlier, an official representative of the US State Department said, that Russian tests of anti-satellite weapons in space are reckless. He stressed that allegedly due to such tests of Russia in space, more than 1,500 debris and hundreds of thousands of fragments of smaller debris appeared, which threaten the interests of all countries.

It is also known that he accused Russia of creating a threat to the security of space research and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. He noted that thousands of debris of the affected target remained in orbit – they will increase the risk for astronauts and the ISS.
