Doctor of the North-Western State Medical University named after Mechnikov Fridman: the noise of the city threatens with neuroses and myocardial infarction Kirill Fridman, head of the department of communal hygiene of the North-Western State Medical University named after II Mechnikov, reports Channel Five.
According to him, people get used to the city noise, not knowing how strong it is affects the body, buildings, bridges and monuments. Changes in the level of acceptable indicators are rarely noticed by the townspeople. At the same time, noise is one of the factors of environmental pollution along with electromagnetic and radiation emissions.
The expert noted that constantly high noise levels threaten not only the hearing organs. “Constant noise exposure through the nervous system causes neuroses, a state of unbalanced mental status,” the doctor listed the diseases arising from the noise. It can cause cardiovascular disease, hypertension and even myocardial infarction.
The main source of noise is city traffic. For example, in the center of St. Petersburg, even the streets that are not heavily loaded with cars have a noise level that exceeds the daily norm by 20 decibels. The specialist explained that the point is in the peculiarities of the historical buildings. Due to the close proximity of houses, buildings are re-screening sound vibrations.
He recalled the recommendations of doctors to avoid noisy places as much as possible. Soundproofing can be installed in apartments. In addition, you can plan daily walking routes through courtyards.
Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor urged Russians to complain about the noise of engineering and technological communications.
