Ukraine prepares to expel migrants back to Belarus

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine said that illegal immigrants who entered the country will be expelled back to Belarus

Illegal migrants who will enter the territory of Ukraine from Belarus will be sent back in accordance with the readmission agreement. This was stated by the director of the communication department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Ukraine Artem Shevchenko on Facebook.

According to him, in this case Belarus is obliged to take refugees back. “This means that for now at least the legal basis for preventing the same situation on the Ukrainian border as in Poland is preserved. But you still need to prepare, “Shevchenko stressed.

The Interior Ministry official noted that, despite the readiness of the Ukrainian security officials to expel illegal immigrants from the country, Ukraine urgently needs to build protective fences on the eastern and northern sections of the border. At the same time, Shevchenko pointed out that the construction of the fence along the entire border with Belarus will cost Kiev seven billion hryvnias (almost 20 billion rubles).

Meanwhile, at one of the border points of Poland and Belarus, a crowd of migrants tried to break through the fences. Polish security forces have prepared water cannons and are watching the situation from a helicopter. The refugees themselves claim that they intend to get to Poland at any cost. It is noted that the migrants were accompanied by Belarusian security forces.
