The ministry also says that the drivers carrying migrants and the organizers who are illegally staying in the country are detained – two Russians of Chechen nationality.
On November 11, the Russian embassy stated that it had not received any reports of the detention of Russian citizens from the Polish side. According to international law, Poland must report such measures to Russia within no more than three days.
The flow of migrants from Belarus to the EU has grown sharply after President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko amid another aggravation of relations with the West threatened to weaken control over the border. On November 8, several thousand people approached Poland from the Belarusian side. Migrants do not leave the border zone; some have tried to enter Poland by breaking the barbed wire fence.
