Polish Interior Minister: the fence on the Belarusian border will be built until the first half of 2022
The Polish authorities plan to build fence on the border with Belarus. Such details were revealed by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic, Mariusz Kamiński, on the air of the radio station RMF FM.
The Minister of Internal Affairs also noted that the length of the structure will be 180 kilometers and the height – 5.5 meters. According to him, the most modern solutions will be involved in the construction.
“Along the Bug River, we use a different type of security system. We are constantly provoked, but our services are well prepared, “added Kaminsky.
In addition, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that currently the border with Belarus is guarded by 13 thousand Polish servicemen, 4.5 thousand border guards and two thousand policemen.
Earlier in October, the Polish government adopted a bill on the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus. The document will be sent from the Cabinet to the lower house of the Polish parliament (Seim). It involves the construction of a high and reliable fence equipped with a monitoring and motion detection system.
From the beginning of 2021, people began to flock to the border of Belarus with Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The crisis escalated sharply on November 8 after several thousand people approached the Polish border from the Belarusian side. They do not leave the border zone, part of them tried to enter the territory of Poland on November 10, breaking the barbed wire fence.
