The German Ministry of Energy, against the backdrop of threats to Lukashenko, called guaranteed gas supplies to the country through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. The department replied that they took note of this possibility and regretted the position of Minsk, RIA Novosti reports.
The representative of the Ministry of Energy expressed confidence that Russia will be able to fulfill contracts for the supply of gas, and stressed that he considers the security of supplies to be guaranteed.
On the eve of November 11, Lukashenka said that if Europe decides on new sanctions against the Belarusian regime and closes the border, then Minsk may take extreme measures. He called on “the leadership of Poland, Lithuanians and other headless people” to think before taking any action.
European Commissioner for Economic Affairs Paolo Gentiloni responded that the EU will not allow itself to be intimidated by threats to shut down the gas pipeline. Russian experts doubted the possibility of such actions on the part of Lukashenka, if only because the gas pipeline belongs to Gazprom.
In turn, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Lukashenka did not discuss his threats with the Kremlin and did not agreed.
