Russians' spending on alcohol on non-working days almost doubled

OFD.ru: Russians spent 80% more money on alcohol during non-working days

Russians spent 78.8% more money for alcohol on non-working days from October 28 to November 7, 2021 compared to the same period last year. This is the conclusion reached by the analysts of the operator of fiscal data ОFD.ru. The results of the study are cited by RIA Novosti.

At the same time, it is noted that on Wednesday, October 27, Russians spent five times more on alcohol than on October 28. Analysts suggested that this is due to the fact that alcohol markets in Moscow and other Russian cities were closed on non-working days.

Retail stores showed a sharp increase in revenue from the sale of alcoholic beverages – an increase of 75 percent. However, the biggest jump in profits was noted at the airports. During non-working days, they earned 195 percent more than on normal days. In the parks, on the contrary, revenue showed a decrease these days – by 38.2 percent.

Earlier, Rospotrebnadzor assessed the impact of non-working days on the situation with COVID-19. Alexander Gorelov, deputy head for scientific work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, believes that they had a positive effect, with their help it was possible to break the chains of infections with coronavirus infection. The expert noted that in most regions of Russia, the increase in new patients with coronavirus infection has decreased and the situation with the incidence has stabilized.
