Lawyer Soloviev: alimony will be withheld from unemployment benefits and self-employed income
Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Soloviev warned Russians income for the recovery of alimony was significantly expanded. He told Prime agency,
Now it will take into account scholarships, unemployment benefits, income of the self-employed, funds received from the sale of real estate, as well as dividends, interest on bank deposits and the amount of tax refunded.
“These additions take into account the changes that have occurred in tax legislation – the emergence of a new category of taxpayers – self-employed citizens, and also solve the long-overdue issue of including a number of incomes in the list of incomes taken into account when collecting alimony,” the lawyer clarified.
< p> Soloviev also urged Russians to contact the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Finance for clarification on the use of an expanded list of incomes. He noted that alimony debtors often hide the sources of their income or try to significantly underestimate it. Until recently, a number of incomes, such as dividends and interest on deposits, were exempted from collecting alimony arrears, the specialist recalled. According to him, all this led to an unfair distribution of income, “exacerbating social inequality.”
On November 4, the Russian government updated the revision of the list of incomes from which child support payments are allowed. According to the updated version, alimony is withheld, in particular, from all types of salaries, fees, pensions, scholarships, allowances, allowances (in the case of military personnel and law enforcement officers) and other payments.
