First after the accident, the space truck “Progress” docked to the ISS

The spacecraft delivered to the station about 2.5 tons of various cargoes.

Moscow. 24 Feb. INTERFAX.RU Space truck “Progress MS-05” on the morning of Friday docked with the International space station (ISS).

As the correspondent of “Interfax” from the mission control Center (MCC) in Korolev near Moscow, the procedure was carried out on a two-day scheme. The ship docked to the Pirs module in an automatic mode.

The spacecraft delivered to the station about 2.5 tons of various cargoes, including fuel, compressed gases, spacesuit “Orlan-MKS”, equipment for scientific experiments, medical provisions, as well as containers with food and water, expendable equipment, parcels for the ISS crew.

December 1 last year has failed to put into orbit launched from Baikonur space truck “Progress MS-04”, which was supposed to deliver to ISS more than two tons of cargo. The result of contingencies there was a loss of “Progress” at an altitude of about 190 km over a remote unpopulated mountainous area in Tuva.

The main version of accident of the space cargo ship “Progress MS-04”, falling in December 2016, acknowledged the destruction of the engine block third stage of the launch vehicle.

The carrier rocket “Soyuz-U” has been exploited since 1973. It was meant to launch into orbit transport ships, spacecraft, special, technological and medico-biological purpose (like “Photon” and “Bion”) and automatic space vehicles of various types. At the moment the production of “Soyuz-U” has been completed.
