Iraq will take out those wishing to return home through the Russian embassy
The Iraqi authorities will take out those wishing to return home from Belarus through the embassy Russia. This was stated in a conversation with RIA Novosti by the Deputy Minister for Migration and Migrants of Iraq, Karim al-Nuri.
They want to return the Iraqis to their homeland in this way, since the official Baghdad does not have a representative office in Minsk.
An-Nuri also asked other countries not to allow Iraqis to get to Belarus “as a sign of goodwill” for the European Union. His request came against the backdrop of threats from Brussels, which promised to impose sanctions against Iraq.
Belarusian authorities and representatives of the Red Cross are helping refugees at the border.
The migration crisis on the eastern border of the European Union began in May 2021 year. Large groups of migrants from Africa and the Middle East began to massively cross the border of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia from Belarus. The authorities of the affected countries blamed Minsk and Moscow for the escalation of the migration crisis.
