Odnoklassniki will update the news feed and launch a new dynamic menu in applications
The social network Odnoklassniki presented a large-scale update at an online conference OK.Update. This was announced in a press release received by the editorial board of “Lenta.ru”.
The changes will affect major social network services. “We have generally revised the approach to content in the social network: our plans are to increase the share of publications from groups in the feed, launch additional opportunities for authors and formats for displaying content. New tools for business and social commerce will help find an active audience of clients in the updated news feed, ”said the head of Odnoklassniki, Anton Fedchin.
So, users will receive recommended publications in the news feed – they can be seen after viewing all the latest posts from friends and groups. Neural networks will analyze the preferences of similar users and form a circle of their interests in public actions within the social network. Using computer vision technologies and text analysis, the most relevant publications will be selected for each user.

In addition, the social network announced a new consumption format – a separate vertical content feed. It will complement the existing formats for displaying information and will appear in applications for iOS and Android at the end of 2021. The new feed will show featured posts with vertical content: short videos, photos, and GIFs. Thanks to a simple interface, users will be able to view what they are interested in at any time in an accessible format – each piece of content will be shown in full screen mode.
Odnoklassniki also presented a new scheme for working with content creators. By the end of 2021, a technology for selecting high-quality content will appear, which will automatically highlight interesting authors, groups and media on the social network and give them additional coverage. Thus, creators of high-quality and unique content will be able to increase their subscriber base and coverage of publications.
In addition, the social network is actively developing its own service of disappearing photos and videos “Moments”: during the year its monthly active audience reached 28 million users and already accounts for more than half of the audience of Odnoklassniki in Russia. Soon, the publication of moments will be available not only to personal profiles, but also to all groups on the social network. Official groups will be able to add any links to moments, regardless of the number of subscribers.
Representatives of the social network also announced a new dynamic menu in mobile applications – the interface will be adapted for each user already in 2022. The neural network will determine the user's activity in the services of the social network and will show in the menu those sections with which he most often interacts. For example, lovers of music and online shopping will have quick access to the “Music” and “Products” sections, and everyone who often congratulates friends will see the “Gifts” section in the menu.
Until the end of 2021, users will be able to pay for goods of groups and business profiles right inside the social network, using the built-in secure payment system. In addition, Odnoklassniki presented a full-fledged service for selling goods through video broadcasts. It is now available on all platforms and allows you to display product cards directly inside the video player, either individually or as a list in a carousel format. Viewers of broadcasts will be able to immediately go to the product they are interested in and make a purchase.
