Deputy Foreign Minister of Lithuania: border guards will open fire when “green men” with weapons break through
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mantas Adhoomenas Moscow “announced the readiness of the border guards of the republic to open fire if” little green men “appear on the border with Belarus.
According to him, hundreds of migrants from the Middle East have gathered at the border. If they break the fence, the border guards can detain them and send them back to Belarus. “Weapons are used only in the event of an attack, when there is a danger to the lives of the border officers themselves,” Adomenas emphasized. – There was no shooting at our borders. And our officers did not use weapons. ”
When asked whether the border guards were ready to open fire to kill, the diplomat replied:“ If people with weapons will break through, some “little green men” – yes, of course. ”
Adomenas noted that Kurdish migrants near the border are not aggressive.
“The only aggressive ones in this case are the Belarusian border guards and special services, who threaten those Kurds who are already trying to go back realizing that they cannot enter the European Union, then they are threatened with weapons and forced to try to cross the European border again and again, ”the deputy minister concluded.
Earlier, the Lithuanian authorities imposed a state of emergency in the border areas for a month due to the exacerbation of the migration crisis.
“Green men” are often called Russian security officials in uniforms without insignia, who operated in Crimea in 2014.
