The political scientist spoke about the role of Russia in the migration conflict between Poland and Belarus

Political scientist Markov: Poland should stop financing the coup in Belarus

In order to end the migration crisis on its borders, Poland should build a dialogue with Belarus and stop financing the coup d'etat inside the country, said political analyst Sergei Markov. In a conversation with Lenta.ru, he said that Russia could play a role in this conflict as a mediator.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin sees tendencies towards increased tensions on the border of Belarus and Poland.

According to Markov, Russia cannot stand aside in this situation and is likely to act as a mediator.

“There is a tough, slightly distraught position of Poland. There is no less tough position of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, who says that he is not obliged to do their work for the neighbors. In these conditions, Russia, together with Germany, can act as a mediator in negotiations and achieve some kind of compromise solution. In this case, Belarus will have to stop the flows of migrants, but Poland will need to respond with gratitude to this step, gratitude for all the work that the neighboring state is doing, instead of boorish neglect, “the political scientist said.

Markov specified, that gratitude should be, first of all, the cessation by the Polish authorities of financing the coup d'etat in Belarus.

Earlier, several publications found out that the majority of migrants on the Belarusian-Polish border are from Syria, Iraq and Turkey, among them there are many Kurds … They get to Minsk by air from the airports of Ankara, Istanbul, Baghdad and Dubai, and from there they go west. Refugees and their families pay thousands of euros for a Belarusian visa and accommodation in the country.
