Hundreds of Afghans fled the country disguised as journalists

Khaama Press: hundreds of Afghans pretended to be journalists to leave the country

Hundreds of Afghan citizens pretended to be journalists to leave the republic after the seizure of power of the radical Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) . This is reported by Khaama Press with reference to the National Union of Journalists of Afghanistan.

According to the agency, during the evacuation of Western forces from the republic, a number of organizations not connected with the media brought their employees, as well as their relatives and friends into lists disguised as journalists. It is noted that this allowed the Afghans to quickly obtain the necessary documents and leave the country.

Khaama Press notes that these organizations also appropriated part of the international financial assistance. Union head Masroor Lutfi said some media outlets sold journalistic accreditations on the black market. According to him, hundreds of real media workers remain in Afghanistan, do not receive assistance and are in a difficult financial situation.

On November 8, it was reported that the US authorities refused to send humanitarian aid to Afghanistan through the Taliban government, but intend to continue helping the peaceful residents through international organizations. Jake Sullivan, Assistant to the American President for National Security, stressed that Washington is not ready to work directly with the current leadership of the country, since it has not yet found positive changes in the policy of the radical group.
