The Consumers Union of Russia complained about the deterioration in the quality of school food due to the rise in prices the quality of school food, Izvestia writes. The organization sent the corresponding letter to the government.
The letter contains several proposals, including reimbursing the regions for increased costs of food for free meals for primary school students.
The reason for the appeal was statements by parents schoolchildren from several regions at once, including from the Penza, Moscow regions and Tatarstan. According to them, children rate many dishes as “tasteless and unsatisfying”, and immediately after school they ask for food again, which was not observed before.
According to the parents, the menu of free breakfasts for elementary school students this year includes only cereals, which are now cooked not with milk, but with water. In response to the complaints, the management of many schools stated that they had to change the diet due to the increased cost of ingredients.
The current rules do not oblige Russian schools to provide primary school students with hot meals. It will become mandatory from the beginning of the academic year 2023-24. President Vladimir Putin came up with such an initiative last year. However, some schools are volunteering to provide hot meals now.
