Reaction of the European Union
The European Union (EU) previously announced its readiness to introduce new sanctions against Belarus, directed against about 30 individuals and legal entities. This list may include Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei and the Belarusian airline Belavia.

The EU and NATO accuse President Alexander Lukashenko of using migrants as a weapon of pressure on the West. Another package of sanctions is directed against the Belarusian officials, who, according to the EU, organized the arrival of migrants in retaliation for the restrictions on Minsk.
Acting German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, in turn, added that the EU is ready to toughen sanctions against the Belarusian authorities due to the influx of migrants to the border with Poland.

According to Maas, the European Union also considers it important to “raise awareness in the countries of origin” of illegal migrants. He explained that we are talking about the readiness not to give false promises, because of which migrants “pay thousands of dollars” and which “then bring them to the Belarusian forests.”
Poland's reaction
Polish President Andrzej Duda accused the Belarusian authorities of obstructing humanitarian aid to refugees who are on the Belarusian-Polish border. He noted that Warsaw had already sent convoys with humanitarian aid, but Minsk blocked the border and did not allow the delivery of goods for migrants.
Duda called the incident an “unprecedented massive hybrid attack” from Belarus on the border. He stressed that Warsaw was ready for such a development of events, since the crisis provoked by the Belarusian regime has been going on for a long time.

On Monday, November 8, a group of illegal migrants from the Middle East gathered at the Belarusian-Polish border and tried to overcome the border barriers. According to the data of the Polish government, the number of the refugee crowd reached three to four thousand people. The migration crisis on the eastern borders of the EU (Lithuania, Latvia, Poland) arose in the spring of 2021, as a result of a sharp increase in the influx of illegal migrants from the Third World countries.
