The Center for Financial Literacy reported about the deception of Russians with free PCR tests RIA Novosti reported that scammers began to deceive Russians, offering to do a free PCR test for coronavirus.
According to her, the personal data of citizens are of no less interest to fraudsters than money. “The situation with the coronavirus, quarantine, restrictions and changes in legislation – all this is fertile ground for new scenarios of fraudsters,” said an employee of the center.
One of the most common methods of collecting data is a free test for COVID-19. “Here the suspiciousness of a person plays a role, the fear of getting infected, as well as the temptation to get what you want for free,” the agency's interlocutor explained the deception, noting that in this case, a fraudster disguised as a laboratory assistant will take an analysis at home, but for this you need to fill out a questionnaire, enter SNILS data, policy, passport and residential address.
Daineko explained that due to the lack of the need to pay, a person loses vigilance. Fraudsters can either steal personal data or create a database of people with a pattern of behavior necessary for fraudsters. “Such a list can be quite expensive, because it is no longer just a list of subscribers of a mobile operator,” she added.
At the same time, those who themselves try to deceive the system can become victims of fraudsters. For example, by buying a fake QR code. “Since the beginning of the tightening of coronavirus restrictions, websites have appeared on the Internet where you can buy a QR code. The buyer transfers money to the scammers' account and, of course, does not receive anything, “the expert concluded.
Earlier it was reported that the scammers have come up with a new way of deceiving Russians, in which they use coronavirus vaccination as an excuse to get into House. Pseudo-doctors come home – mostly to the elderly – and offer them a coronavirus vaccine at home, after which they rob their apartment.
