According to the captain of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Patrick Foy, his colleagues received DNA samples of the bear and are now trying to track him down. “If an animal attacks a person and we can identify it, then it is euthanized to prevent further attacks,” he said.

Foy also said that the population of black bears in Northern California has tripled in 25 years , therefore, collisions with people have become more frequent.

Earlier in the US state of North Carolina, a dog rescued its owners from a baribal attack. The dog rushed at the bear and managed to distract him.
