Russian startup Welldone will start selling vegetable dumplings and sausages 
Russian startup Welldone announced the launch of sales of vegetable dumplings and sausages, Inc. Until November 20, the first batch will go to some retail chains.
The dumplings will be sold with coriander or with onions and garlic. Also, Russians will be fed sausages, in the production of which a shell based on a polysaccharide was used. It is obtained from brown, red and green algae. The novelty can first be bought in Moscow and St. Petersburg, and in 2022 sales will begin in the regions.
A package of dumplings (400 grams) will cost about 350 rubles, the same amount will have to be paid for a pack of four sausages (220 grams). Welldone specializes in the production of soy protein-based plant-based meats. In 2020, it was tested and appeared in Moscow restaurants.
Earlier it was reported that McDonald’s will start selling McPlant burgers with vegetable meat in November. The burger contains peas, rice, potatoes, beets and a slice of cheese. Adding plant-based meat to menus can attract new consumers and help companies achieve their sustainability goals. However, one of the drawbacks is its higher cost for both restaurants and consumers, experts say.
