UNHCR engages with the authorities involved on the issue of refugees at the Polish border
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has expressed its willingness to help with the solution of the problem of refugees on the Polish-Belarusian border. This was stated by the official representative of the international organization Shabiya Mantoux at a briefing in Geneva, TASS reports.

Speaking to reporters, Mantou said that the UNHCR is working “with all the authorities involved in resolving this issue.” “We have repeatedly stated that the political use of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants is unacceptable and must stop,” said a UNHCR spokeswoman.
She also stressed that the organization is primarily concerned about the humanitarian consequences of the migration crisis on the border of Poland and Belarus. “From a humanitarian point of view, we are ready to support the authorities, have access to these people and the opportunity to assess the situation in which they are, and to make sure that they can receive protection,” she listed.
On November 8, a large crowd illegal migrants from the Middle East approached the Belarusian-Polish border and began to attack the barriers in an attempt to penetrate the territory of Poland. The Polish government also noted that the camp of illegal immigrants is guarded by Belarusian security forces.
The migration crisis on the border of Belarus and the EU countries began after the President of the Republic Alexander Lukashenko threatened to weaken control over the flow of refugees and drug trafficking. This happened against the backdrop of yet another aggravation of relations between Minsk and the West.
