“NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg asked me to stay on the hotline this morning, to inform him constantly about the development of the situation, whether an escalation is starting there, which could serve as a basis for action by the Alliance, ”said the Polish leader. He hoped that NATO forces would provide support to Warsaw, not militarily, but by other available means. Duda also thanked the alliance for its willingness to help solve the problem with migrants.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Germany Horst Seehofer called on the European Commission (EC) to take the necessary measures to resolve the migration problem. He said that Germany and Poland are not able to independently cope with the aggravating situation with migrants on the border with Belarus.
According to the Polish Border Service, on November 8, 309 attempts to illegally cross the country's border from Belarus were recorded. At the same time, Deputy Polish Minister of Internal Affairs Maciej Wonsik said that 12 thousand soldiers of the Polish Army, 4 thousand border guards and 1.5 thousand police officers are now at the border.
