According to the politician, now humanity is going through dangerous times, associated with unpredictability and uncertainty, against the background of which states seek to reduce external risks and ensure internal stability, which leads to the emergence of the need to protect and defend their positions.

Schultz also noted that in the history of Europe there were similar periods, accompanied by devastating wars, and they ended “extremely badly.” However, if earlier such conflicts arose in the EU, now the focus is shifting towards Asia due to the competition between China and the United States. “For many, the situation there seems to be more serious than in Europe. However, the conflict in Asia will have a direct impact on Europe, and the danger that the conflict will spread to our region is quite real, ”Schultz emphasized.
He drew attention to the fact that against this background, Russia is especially important, regardless of problems in relations with the EU, cooperate with Germany. “We need to monitor and find means to reduce tensions and prevent conflicts,” Schultz said, adding that the best defense is to work together to maintain security in Europe.
At the same time, cooperation, Schultz is sure, can a joint fight against climate change, which requires urgent action.
