Petersburg, said that he knocked down a SOBR officer to death, as he mistook the security officer for a criminal. His version of events is quoted by the Telegram channel Shot.

According to the fraudster, he saw a crowd of people blocking his path and thought they were bandits. Then he allegedly tried to break through the cordon, knocking down Police Lieutenant Colonel Yevgeny Zakharov.

Earlier it was reported that the detained members of the criminal group mainly specialized in auto fences. On their trail came the criminal investigation officers.

Earlier on Tuesday, November 9, the security forces carried out a special operation at various addresses, including on the Pulkovskoye highway in the Pushkin district of the city. While some employees went to the apartment where the offender was hiding, others remained on the street. One of the criminals was sitting in cars in the courtyard of the house. Seeing the Russian Guard, blocking his path, he shot down one soldier and disappeared. The police officer died on the spot from his injuries. Less than an hour later, the driver was detained. The deceased Lieutenant Colonel Zakharov will be posthumously presented with an award for courage.
