UK girl for 10 years ate only chicken nuggets due to an eating disorder 
– for a rare disease – selective eating disorders. The Daily Mail reports.
11-year-old Jessica Thompson from Swindon, Wiltshire, at the age of one and a half, began to refuse any food except nuggets. “At first she ate baby food and tried other foods, but suddenly it all stopped and she began to eat only nuggets,” says the girl's mother Julia Kane.

She added that sometimes her daughter ate a few slices of French fries, but she could never master the whole portion. For most of her life, Jessica ate exclusively on nuggets and only occasionally tasted potatoes and bread. “People said, 'She'll outgrow it,' or, 'If you take her chicken off, she'll give up and start eating what they give.' But the fact is that Jessica would rather starve to death than eat something else, ”says Kane.
Doctors also claimed that the girl was simply picky, and because of the indulgence of her parents to her whims, she became addicted to only beige food, such as nuggets, french fries and bread.
In September 2021, Jessica's parents turned to a hypnotherapist. who found a selective eating disorder in a child. The disease manifests itself in the fact that a person refuses a particular food, guided by its color, size, smell, taste or texture. Eating disorder is most common in children and clears up over time, but there are exceptions.
Jessica received three weeks of treatment, during which she attended therapy sessions, listened to relaxation audio tapes and kept a progress chart. This worked: the girl began to eat other food and tried 24 new dishes. “Not everything she likes, but for us this is a huge step forward,” Kane summed up.
Earlier it was reported that a girl from the English city of St. Helens, Maryside County, also ate only chicken nuggets. Hypnotherapy sessions also helped the child recover.
