Long-awaited feature coming to WhatsApp

WABetaInfo: WhatsApp can be used on a computer without being bound to a phone

The popular WhatsApp messenger can be used on a computer without being bound to a phone. The appearance of this long-awaited function is announced by the WABetaInfo portal.

It is noted that the new beta version is available to any user. An offer to take part in testing will appear after the application is synchronized with the desktop version of WhatsApp. After the user uses the new function, he will not need to re-authorize to access WhatsApp, even if the owner's smartphone is broken or dead.

One account can be enabled on four devices. Implementation of this option required a complete overhaul of WhatsApp's security systems.

Some restrictions will apply during the beta testing phase. In particular, it will be inaccessible to send voice and video messages to those contacts who have not yet updated the program to the latest version.

Earlier, Russians were warned about the dangers of popular instant messengers. According to Andrey Slobodchikov, information security expert at AT Consulting, during a pandemic, mail services and social networks, including instant messengers, are the most common leak channels. This is due to the fact that they use third-party services to transfer and store data that are not under the control of the owner of the confidential information.
