The Minister of defence of the Russian Federation General of the army Sergei Shoigu said that Russia and the United States could begin to cooperate with the joint action in the Syrian raqqa. He said this, answering questions of students during the II all-Russian youth forum “International military-political and military-economic cooperation: current trends” at MGIMO.
“Our goal is to combine efforts. We have all possibilities for this. We have a common enemy — international terrorism. We Americans recognize it as the enemy,” — said Shoigu, Recalling the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that terrorism cannot be defeated alone.
“We must stop scaring us the whole world and start a calm, constructive and consistent work to establish those relationships that were at least five to seven years ago,” the Minister said.
“We have everything in order to cooperate effectively, everything. And nothing prevents us to start this work. Today, if we do point to talk, it would be possible to begin joint actions in raqqa. Everything is clear, everything is obvious, there is no contradiction who is there. This work could begin. But for this we need to be heard and understood… it is Necessary to stop, sit, and begin to speak normally,” — said the Minister.
