The Russian national swimming team was deprived of silver of the European championship

The Russian national swimming team was disqualified and deprived of medals in the European championship freestyle relay 50 meters at the European Championships in Kazan. This was reported by Match TV.

Russians Vladimir Morozov, Kliment Kolesnikov, Arina Surkova, Maria Kameneva covered the distance in one minute 29.40 seconds and shared the second place with the national team of Italy. They had already received silver medals, but were then disqualified due to the protest of the Polish national team.

President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov said that the reason was the violation of the declared order of placement for the relay. “A common technical unfortunate mistake that happens in athletes' parking,” said the team's coach Sergei Chepik.

The winners were the representatives of the Netherlands, who showed the time – one minute and 28.93 seconds. Athletes from Poland have moved to third place.

The European Swimming Championships will end on November 7th.
