Head of Ural Airlines Skuratov: no one needs a plane landed in a corn field
The plane of Ural Airlines, which in 2019 accidentally sat down in a corn field in Zhukovsky near Moscow, has not yet been disposed of. The main co-owner and general director of the carrier Sergey Skuratov told RBC about this.
According to him, no one needed the liner. “It must be disposed of (…) when the investigation report [of the accident] is finally signed, and the Investigative Committee will give permission for disposal,” the top manager explained.
Skuratov explained that currently the aircraft is located at a specialized site at Zhukovsky airport. At the same time, the Interstate Aviation Committee has already prepared a report on the results of the accident investigation and is discussing it with Rosaviats. “We found a significant number of birds, all of this was photographed,” he added.
The Ural Airlines plane flying from Moscow to Simferopol, shortly after takeoff, made an emergency landing near Zhukovsky airport on the morning of August 15 last year. Onboard there were 226 passengers and seven crew members. 76 people were injured. According to preliminary data, the reason for the engines' fire was the ingress of birds into them; during landing, one of the engines fell off.
