Russian Opera singer and former member of the State Duma Maria Maksakova was fired from the Academy of music Gnesin, according to the portal dni.ru.
Students of singer was split between other teachers.
The decision to dismiss was taken after reports that Maksakova with her husband, a former state Duma Deputy from the Communist party by Denis Voronenkova fled to Ukraine.
On 27 January it was reported that Voronenkov gave testimony in the Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine against former President Viktor Yanukovych on charges of treason.
Boronenkov, according to him, has received Ukrainian citizenship on December 6, 2016, two days after the end of his powers of a Deputy of the state Duma. The Communist party has promised to expel him from the party, if it is confirmed the fact of dual citizenship.
Maksakova has been a soloist of the Bolshoi theatre, the soloist of Opera troupe of the Mariinsky theatre. He sang Dorabella, Princess Charlotte and Helen Bezukhova.
