Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed during a telephone conversation with his us counterpart Donald trump, the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine, as well as the opportunity of a personal meeting. This was announced on Saturday evening, January 28, the press service of the Kremlin.

“Discussed topical international problems, including combating terrorism, the situation in the middle East, the Arab-Israeli conflict, strategic stability and non-proliferation, the situation around the Iranian nuclear program and the Korean Peninsula. Also touched upon the main aspects of the crisis in Ukraine. Agreed to establish a partnership on these and other directions”, — stated in the message.

The two leaders noted as a priority the need to combat international terrorism and agreed to coordinate the Russian and American military to defeat the “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) and other terrorist groups operating in Syria.

Putin and trump also pointed to the importance of establishing” mutually beneficial trade-economic ties between business circles” Russia and the United States, which would strengthen bilateral relations.

The heads of state agreed to charge to work out possible dates and venue of the personal meeting. In the course of the conversation, as reported in the Kremlin, had “demonstrated a mindset for active joint work on stabilization and development of Russian-American cooperation on a constructive, equal and mutually beneficial basis.”

Putin also congratulated trump with inauguration and wished him success on the post of the President of the United States. The head of the White house, for its part, “asked to convey wishes of happiness and prosperity to the Russian people, noting that the American people sympathetic to Russia and its citizens.” The Russian leader noted that Russian citizens have similar feelings to the Americans, Recalling that the countries were allies during the two world wars and in present time Moscow sees Washington as a crucial partner in the fight against international terrorism.
