UK to send destroyer the type 45 HMS Diamond in the Mediterranean sea for the first time since the cold war, reports TASS with reference to the newspaper Mail on Sunday. As stated in the country’s defense Ministry, the ship will be used to perform operational tasks in the region.
The ship will head a task force in NATO, “to protect” 650 military the UK involved in some secret military exercises in Ukraine.
“British experts teach infantry skills to thousands of Ukrainian soldiers”, – the newspaper writes.
The British defense Secretary Michael Fallon said that the country “supports the Ukrainian friends” and with the help of the destroyer sends a “clear message” that Britain supported “the territorial integrity of Ukraine”.
