On Friday, January 27, the state Duma in the third reading adopted the law on decriminalization of the battery. This is reported by the Rambler/news with reference to “Interfax”.
The document was supported by 380 deputies and opposed by three. Now the law must be approved by the Federation Council and President Vladimir Putin.
The draft law on decriminalization of a beating to translate the first cases of assault against relatives from the category of criminal offences to administrative offences. Second and subsequent incidents of domestic violence are encouraged to leave criminal offences.
The document was submitted to the state Duma a group of deputies, and acted with such initiative the Senator Elena Mizulina.
Earlier the state Duma has rejected six amendments to the bill. In particular, the amendment of the Communist party, which proposed to leave criminal penalties for minor assault against children, pregnant women and helpless citizens.
While for “assault against close persons” (article 116 of the criminal code of Russian Federation) punishment in the form of 360 hours of compulsory works or corrective works, as well as up to two years in prison.
