Proposed Russian version of the Constitution of Syria is not the pressure on the opposition, is an invitation to the debate, said the head of the Department of information and press of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“The Russian side handed over (to the opposition at the talks in Astana) practices, some ideas for possible constitutions (Syria). Of course, it is not a question of pressure of our or any rigid framework, in which we want to supply certain opposition groups. We are talking about the invitation to the discussion on the very important issue – the future of Syria,” she said in the TV channel “Russia 24”.
In her estimation, the inter-Syrian talks in Syria were “a complete success”. They were able to sit at the negotiating table the Syrian government and representatives of the armed opposition. “A week ago they were fighting and believed that the only possible outcome is the death of the enemy,” Zakharova recalled.
“As a result of all took place, as scheduled, in the formats in which it was intended. Of course, there could be great advances, but the task that was raised, was implemented absolutely… Here you need to speak about complete success and we managed to sit at the same negotiating table, managed to set the tone of debate and discussion,” — said the official representative of the foreign Ministry.
