The US Embassy in Russia has confirmed the arrest of an American citizen for drug trafficking for drug smuggling. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press secretary of the American diplomatic mission in Moscow, Jason Rebholz.
“We are aware of reports of the arrest of a US citizen, but we cannot comment on this case for confidentiality reasons,” said a spokesman for the embassy .
Earlier, as reported by Interfax, members of the Moscow Public Monitoring Commission (POC) found Vogel in the Moscow SIZO-5. He said that he was detained in August 2021 for transporting 17 grams of marijuana, which he used for medical purposes as prescribed by a doctor.
The US citizen explained that he underwent spinal surgery and was prescribed a drug to relieve the interference. The American indicated that he did not know about the ban on medical marijuana in Russia.
