Scientists from Harvard Medical School conducted an experiment in which some volunteers drank blueberry drinks every day for a month. At the same time, other participants in the study received a control drink.

As a result of the study, it was found that the consumption of even 200 grams of berries per day causes the expansion of the brachial artery and a decrease in systolic blood pressure by an average of five millimeters of mercury “in a couple of hours.” … This effect was observed in volunteers throughout the month. It is comparable to the results of taking special medications.

According to scientists, blueberries are rich in anthocyanins – antioxidants that improve the functioning of endothelial cells in the body. They, in turn, are responsible for the regulation of blood flow and blood pressure, which is especially important in the fight against hypertension.
