However, he stressed that it is too early to say how much the omicron strain of COVID-19 is more dangerous than the delta strain. Collins recalled that earlier there were serious concerns about the beta strain, but it did not spread widely in the United States.
Doctors from South Africa said that young people are the most vulnerable group for the omicron strain. There, mainly people aged 20-30 years are admitted to hospitals with infection with a new strain.
