Kalashnikov was dismissed from his post as head of the Federal Penitentiary Service on November 25 by a decree of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Instead of him, the Deputy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Arkady Gostev was appointed to this position. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Kalashnikov was removed from office after a personal appeal.
