The fifth article of the treaty, which serves as the founding document of NATO, says that an attack on one of the member states of the treaty will be regarded by the rest as an attack on all member states at once. Thus, the secretary general of the alliance refused to support Ukraine in case of war.
According to Stoltenberg, the alliance provides sufficient support to Kiev in other ways. This is expressed both in political and military terms.
Earlier it became known that the administration of US President Joe Biden is discussing sending military advisers to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova is confident that the transfer of American instructors to Ukraine is already underway, calling them “some truly inveterate warriors.”
