Archaeologists have found over 50 burials in Kabardino-Balkaria This is reported by TASS.
Research at the Zayukovo-3 burial ground was carried out by the members of the United North Caucasian Archaeological Expedition. They managed to find a record number of burials since 2014, including the oldest burial of the 8th century BC.
“This year we worked for more than a month, the productive season turned out to be, we found 52 burials, this is a record number in history our excavations of the burial ground. True, the bulk of them belonged to children, we went to the children's section of the necropolis and, accordingly, the upper layer was precisely children's burials. It is rather difficult to date them, since almost all of them were without inventory, “said Anna Kadieva, a researcher at the Department of Archaeological Monuments of the State Historical Museum.
During the work, specialists also found a gem in the form of a bird and two pendants on one of which the head of a ram is depicted. According to archaeologists, this is a fairly typical image for the Koban culture. At the same time, they have not yet met pendants of this shape.
